20 Farscape icons (Braca)

These are for the 21st round of farscape_20in20. My claim was Braca :)



In the AC set me and john_scorpy came up with a small challenge for ourselves; we'd take randomized songs and have to use lyrics from them in each icon. The songs I got were:

YAY SO MUCH BRACA ^^ I loooove the slashiness of this set, hee.

ALSO OMG A WHOLE CATEGORY INSPIRED BY ME :OOO that is so flattering! And you did a fantastic job at it too, 4 and 5 are very interesting takes on my complex icons, and 1-3 on my texture use, and I love how you start with the one that best describes the sort of icons I too started with (negative space + textured background). It's a classic look I keep going back to and you executed it really well, I love the deep purple and the scratchy texture and how Braca sort of blends into it. 2 has fantastic texture use and I love the softer, brighter coloring, and 5 is gorgeous with the symmetry and how the warm brown fits the cyan (CYAN!!! You did well with using my favorite colors too! :D), but 3 and 4 are actually my very favorites of these. They're something really different, coloring-wise. I can't stop staring at 3. It's not one that catches your eye immediately but when it does, it's soooo good. The soft contrast, the faded vintage look, but with whole new colors in the mix (the combination of red highlights and turquoise shadows is just so creative and unexpected!), it's so perfect, and the texture borders add that little extra something that really completes the icon. IT IS PERFECTION AND I SHALL TAKE IT TO USE WITH ALL DUE CREDIT. And 4, the composition is flawless and again with the muted contrast and grungy coloring. It's just stunning. ♥

Oh but I got ahead of things there, let's get back to the themes cause they're brilliant too! Each one of these has something gorgeous about them, but I mostly love Nemesis (ow, poor Braca in that scene, and the lighting in this one is great), Catchphrase (great texture use), Left (love the vibrant background and the lighting on it), Fake background (lovely background choice) and Monochrome (it's so sad and I love the color you chose and the text arrangement). However all the others are great too, as I really love the crop and softness of Serene, the text rotation and the vibrant colors in Essence, the composition in Geometric and Past&Future, and the coloring of Vibrant colors.

You did great with our AC challenge too - I apparently have a full on text phase now, I just love making text icons and looking at them. I think it's particularly well used in #2, I love that song and it fits Scorp so well and I love the lyrics you chose and how they're a part of the composition. Also omg the coloring of #1 is fantastic, especially the scorpy block, it's so ominous. The composition of 3 is brilliant and combines 2 of my favorites textures, and I love the vibrancy of 4 and the lighting of 5.

Yay Braca! I love your use of textures, especially in catchphrase and the whole category set. I really like the coloring on AC2, vibrant colors, and serene. The two screencaps you chose for past&future are great--one showing Braca afraid of Scorpius, one showing Braca afraid for Scorpius. The blending in AC5 is also really great.
